Requirements
- Paper 1.20.6 or newer with native player transfers, or Velocity with the 3.3 transfer API or newer. The same MineroamLink.jar supports both platforms.
- Java 21 for Paper 1.20.6 and 1.21.x. Follow your server software's runtime requirements for later releases and for Velocity.
- A public Minecraft game address that players can reach.
- Online-mode enabled on the Paper server, or on the Velocity proxy.
- A compatible Java client and destination version for transfers. Use Minecraft Java 1.20.6 or newer as the supported minimum for your players.
This release does not support BungeeCord, Waterfall, Folia or Bedrock/Geyser transfers. Velocity is the supported proxy platform; Link uses its native transfer API. There is no BungeeCord/Waterfall implementation in this build. Link does not translate Minecraft protocol versions.
Paper Installation
- Stop the server and put MineroamLink.jar in plugins/.
- In server.properties, set: online-mode=true enable-status=true accepts-transfers=true
- Start the server. Check the console for startup errors.
- The plugin creates plugins/MineroamLink/, including config.yml and license.txt. Registration details are saved after you register.
- Join your server and register as an operator or with mineroam.link.register.
Velocity Installation
- Stop the proxy and put MineroamLink.jar in the proxy's plugins/ folder.
- In velocity.toml, enable online-mode and set accepts-transfers=true under the [advanced] section. Restart the proxy after changing these settings.
- Link creates config.json, registration.json when registering, and license.txt in its proxy plugin data folder. It uses JSON on Velocity, not config.yml.
- Give the registering player mineroam.link.register through your proxy permission provider, such as LuckPerms installed on Velocity.
- Join through the proxy and register the proxy's PUBLIC game address.
Install Link on the proxy only for a Velocity network. One proxy is one listing; backend server switches do not create extra listings. Keep your existing secure proxy forwarding setup. Do not enable backend online-mode merely because the standalone Paper instructions say online-mode=true; the proxy authenticates players in a properly configured Velocity network.
Register Your Server
Run this in game on the server or proxy being registered:
/mineroam register <name> <address[:port]>
Examples:
/mineroam register MySurvival play.example.com
/mineroam register MySurvival play.example.com:25570
If you leave out the game port, 25565 is used. Use the actual numeric public game port if your host allocated another one, even if a custom DNS address normally lets players connect without typing it. Enter an address, not an https:// URL. Use the public player address, not localhost, a private network address or a NuVotifier port. Names contain 1–32 letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens and are normalised to lower case. Names and game endpoints must be available.
Check:
/mineroam status
Registration is automatic once its checks pass while registrations are open. A saved local file alone does not mean the listing is connected. Link checks its registration with Mineroam and reports restrictions or recovery instructions. It may briefly add a verification marker to the status MOTD during setup. Keep status enabled and make sure a MOTD plugin is not removing that marker.
By registering a server you agree to the Mineroam Network Rules: https://mineroam.com/rules
When Registrations Are Paused
Mineroam displays its current registration message. Wait for registration to reopen, or ask Mineroam staff about a registration grant. If staff give your player account a grant code, use:
/mineroam register <name> <address[:port]> <grant-code>
You still need local mineroam.link.register permission. The code is bound to your player account. Keep it private and only enter it on a server you trust; server operators can inspect commands run on their own server. A failed check does not use the grant. A successful new listing or claim of a reserved listing uses it once. A grant does not override bans, name/IP blocks or ownership checks, and does not give ongoing listing-edit permissions. Local Link permissions continue to control editing. Staff can revoke or replace unused grants.
Network Access
Your game port must already be reachable publicly. Link initiates its Mineroam connection; you do not need an additional inbound port just to install Link. If your host filters outgoing traffic, ask them to allow the official Mineroam connection. Optional NuVotifier rewards require their own reachable TCP port.
When offline, disconnected, in maintenance or restricted, a listing may be hidden from the browser. Link reconnects automatically after temporary outages. A listing offline continuously for a year can expire. A successful reconnection resets that offline period. If it expires, follow the recovery instructions; your previous name is not guaranteed to remain available.
